Jack Jamieson PhD Student

I’m a PhD student at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information.  My dissertation research examines the expression of values in Web development technologies. What values are embedded or taken for granted in the design of Web development tools?  To what extent do developers accept, resist, ignore, or negotiate with these values?  In what contexts do the values designed into technologies endure or perish?

My other research projects investigate use of mobile communication technologies, exploratory data analysis using sonification, and user-generated media such as keitai shousetsu (Japanese cell phone novels).
