Better known as Toon Doctor®, I am a cartoonist and a human-computer interaction scholar researching usable security. Usable security is about making the devices and apps that you use convenient, responsive, and safe.
My interest in usable security comes from my cartoon animation background. Like an information architect, I wanted to simplify how viewers made sense of the information presented in cartoons, apps, and storyboards. This interest and past scholarly work in cybersecurity, led me to research in usability, user experience, and information security.
I obtained my master's thesis from the Centre for Strategic and Military Studies at the University of Calgary. My thesis was about Twitter and the 2009 Green Revolution in Iran.
I am the creator of Johnny Bullet, a comic about a 1970s drag racer and his ride and the publisher of ComicBookBin.com, Canada's largest comic book news site.
